Who We Are?

Bethany Assembly is affiliated with both the General Council of the Assemblies of God and the Oklahoma District Council.

The church was established on Labor Day weekend in 1964 by Pastor A.K Davis. It has had only two other Pastors in its history, Rev. Russell Herndon and Rev. John B. Johnson, who currently serves.

Certainly every age group is welcome. Bethany Assembly is primarily geared for the “Legacy Believer.”

We define “Legacy believers” as those who place a high value on traditional worship and Biblical preaching. Our goal here is to worship for an audience of One.

Our Pastor’s sermons are “exegetical and expository” – teaching that is verse by verse from the Old and New Testament Scriptures.

What We Believe

Bethany Assembly is a spirit-filled church that is associated with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. We believe that God, through the virgin birth, sinless life, bodily death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, extended grace to us and has given us the opportunity to experience salvation from our sin.  We believe that the empowering work and ministry of the Holy Spirit is still a vital and necessary component of normal church life today.

Statement of Fundamental Truths

This "Statement of Fundamental Truths" contains the sixteen foundational beliefs as embraced by the Assemblies of God. These are our non-negotiable tenets of faith that all member Assemblies adhere to and which we consider essential to the church's mission of reaching the world for Christ.

Ultimately, we believe the Bible to be the divinely inspired, infallible, inerrant, all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. The words employed in the Statement are not to be considered as “inspired.” However, the simple truths set forth in it are to be considered Biblically sound and doctrinally accurate.

John B. Johnson is an ordained Assemblies of God Minister affiliated with the Oklahoma District Council of the Assemblies of God.  Involved in Pastoral Ministry for more than 40 years he has served in a variety of church staff positions including Minister of Counseling, Minister of Christian Education, Pastor of Adult Ministries, Minister of Worship and Music and for twelve years Senior Pastor of Glad Tidings Church, Altus, Oklahoma.
